Derek Desjardins serves as a Tax Partner with Jacobson Lawrence & Company, supporting nonprofit organizations through strong governance oversight, tax compliance leadership, and disciplined service delivery across the Jacobson Jarvis & Company network.

With a career rooted in public accounting, Derek brings a practical, solutions-oriented approach to nonprofit tax compliance, Form 990 preparation and review, internal controls, and process improvement. Prior to joining Jacobson Lawrence & Company, he advanced from Tax Manager to Partner at GPL Tax & Accounting, where he led complex tax engagements, advised nonprofit and closely held organizations, and supported board-level reporting and decision-making.

Derek began his career at Moss Adams LLP, one of the nation’s largest public accounting firms, where he developed a strong technical foundation in large-scale audit and tax environments. His background in operational efficiency and engagement management enables him to collaborate effectively with audit, tax, and advisory teams to help nonprofit organizations meet governance expectations, manage risk, and operate sustainably in increasingly complex regulatory environments nationwide.
